Fox News Host Crestfallen Over Trump-Musk Slugfest: ‘Not a Story We Wanted Today for America’

Fox News host Will Cain opened his show Thursday on a more somber note in response to the heated social media feud between Elon Musk and President Donald Trump.

In the hours prior, the relationship between the president and former face of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) appeared to unravel to a point of no return. In response to Musk’s harsh criticism of the “Big, Beautiful Bill,” Trump expressed his disappointment in the billionaire while speaking to the press in the Oval Office. Musk fired back with continued shots at Trump on X/Twitter, and Trump returned fire on Truth Social. That led to Musk making the out-of-nowhere accusation that Trump was referenced in the Jeffrey Epstein files and that’s why the documents haven’t been released to the public yet.

On The Will Cain Show, Cain broke down the timeline of events before adding it was “not a story that we wanted today for America.”

“It did not stop there, though,” Cain said, “Elon writing, ‘Time to drop the really big bomb. Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT.’

“Seems a rubicon that Elon Musk has crossed that it appears it’s hard to see a path forward for these two to repair their relationship. This is not a story that anyone was looking for — perhaps somewhat predictable with two big personalities — but not a story that we wanted today for America. It’s too soon to tell how far this will go, but House Speaker Mike Johnson thinks he can still get Elon back on board the big beautiful bill.”
