Fox News’ Kurtz Breaks Down Poll Showing Cable News Networks More Trustworthy Than Trump

Fox News’s Howard Kurtz interviewed pollster Frank Luntz on Media Buzz, and the pair discussed a poll showing that more Americans trust the big three cable networks more than President Donald Trump.

Luntz made that case the Trump’s tweets are hurting his base of support, before Kurtz brought up a Monmouth University poll that showed 77% of people believe the media report fake news “regularly or occasionally.”

“Those are pretty startling numbers,” Kurtz said. “Has Donald Trump won his campaign to make everything think that we are awash in fake news?”

“In a word, yes,” Luntz replied.

Kurtz next brought up another finding from the Monmouth Poll, which found CNN, MSNBC and Fox News are all trusted more than the president.

CNN ranked most trusted, with 48% to Trump’s 35%. MSNBC came in second place with 45% to 32% and Fox News in third, with 30% to 20%, according to the poll.

“So how is it that cable news wins despite the constant attacks from the President of the United States?”

“Because the fact is, nobody trusts anybody anymore,” Luntz replied. “Every institution in America is watching their credibility get shredded. And that’s a part of the reason why Americans are so pessimistic about their institutions and about the elites.”
