Fox News Personalities Take Opposite Sides Of California Senate Race
Two potential 2012 GOP presidential nominees, and current Fox News employees, are in a very public disagreement when it comes to who best to represent the Republicans in the California Senate race (aka the “Demon Sheep” race).
Yes, Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee have made their CA Senate choices – and they’re on opposite sides of the primary.
Last week Palin endorsed Carly Fiorina (and got some surprising heat from the tea partiers for the choice). Now, as Vanity Fair points out, Huckabee is very publicly coming out in support of her challenger, tea party favorite Chuck Devore:
Mike Huckabee, who’s well poised to run (possibly against Palin) for president in 2012, responded to the ensuing controversy by supporting Chuck DeVore in as conspicuously garish a fashion as possible.
Go check out Huckabee’s Twitter feed. He is all in on this Devore thing. And to think, just a couple months ago Huckabee and Palin were hosting shows on Fox News right after each other.
> Update: An emailer (and the HucksArmy on Twitter) corrected the claim that Palin endorsed Fiorina first – it was actually Huckabee endorsing Devore that occurred last month. But Huckabee only recently changed his Twitter background.
We’ve done the Huckabee vs. Palin media star comparison before, but it was before Palin officially joined Fox News. Now that they’re colleagues, and potential presidential candidates, seeing such a public disagreement is a bigger story.
The California Senate primary is June 8 – unless the Demon Sheep step in.
