Fox Panel Actually Debates Whether Birtherism Is Racist or Not

 

Tonight Fox News’ On the Record debated whether birtherism is inherently racist:

Brit Hume raised the question tonight and actually read the dictionary definition of racism on the air to ask whether birtherism is, in fact, racist.

Washington Times writer Stephen Dinan said it’s certainly ridiculous and “ignorant,” but while “there are probably racists who are birthers,” it’s not necessarily inherently racist “to question where the president was born.”

USA Today‘s Heidi Przybyla agreed it’s not necessarily the “textbook definition” of racism, but pointed out it was an effort to delegitimize the first black president, so…

Hume said it’s clear it was a nasty, horrible effort to delegitimize President Obama, but said, “I just always wonder when that word ‘racism’ begins to be flung around.”
