Fox’s George Will: ‘MSNBC Has Been a Great Benefit to Christie’
Chris Christie gave a barn-burner of a speech at CPAC Thursday, which was especially notable because of how much he’d been pilloried in the media over BridgeGate in the past few months, and especially on MSNBC. And on Fox’s Special Report Thursday night, George Will argued that far from hurting Christie, MSNBC’s constant hammering away at him over the scandal was actually a boon to his political career.
Juan Williams noted how while BridgeGate has ruined Christie’s favorables across the board to varying degrees, the view some hold that he is a “victim of a Democratic mass-media, mainstream media attack” helps him, even if he does have a ways to go to rebuild trust with the people.
Will went one step further, saying that MSNBC’s near-singular obsession with BridgeGate for week after week was a great boost for his conservative credentials.
“MSNBC has been a great benefit to Christie. I mean, MSNBC has, at most, a one-track mind, and it has been just obsessed with him, and my enemy’s enemy is my friend so a lot of people there were warming up to him.”
