Glenn Beck On Being Called A ‘Nutcake’ By Stephen King: ‘Meant It In A Good Way’
Glenn Beck seems to inspire criticism from some of the most random of places. On his weekly segment with Bill O’Reilly last night, Beck responded to comments made about him by novelist Stephen King, who compared him to “urban nutcakes” in the honesty of his perceived insanity. Beck was pretty happy to have been called honest.
Beck and O’Reilly did not clearly explain why King was talking politics in Entertainment Weekly, but he did take the time to describe Beck as a crazy person preaching that the apocalypse was nearing on the street, and said that, “like those urban nutcakes,” he thought Beck was honest. Beck’s reaction was a little appreciative– “I think he meant that in a good way… I’m a nutcase, but I’m sincere”– and more than a little snarky, pointing out that The Overton Window had been selling better than many of King’s novels.
He also took the opportunity to point out that in Satan-related swipes from Stephen King, Beck comes out on top of O’Reilly– having only been called “Satan’s young brother,” with O’Reilly taking the dubious “Satan’s mentally challenged older brother” title. This prompted O’Reilly to propose a Satan family road trip: a special Bold Fresh Tour performance in Maine, followed by an afterparty at Stephen King’s house.
