Goldie Taylor: If Herman Cain Did What He Purportedly Did In The 1950s, He Would’ve Been Lynched

TheGrio’s Goldie Taylor spoke with MSNBC’s Martin Bashir Friday afternoon about the sexual harassment controversy surrounding Republican frontrunner Herman Cain and did not mince words about her disgust with his alleged behavior. “If Herman Cain did what he purportedly did back in the ’90s with these particular young women in the ’50s and ’60s in this country, he really would’ve been lynched,” Taylor exclaimed.

“If he had done those things to my daughters — my daughters are right around that age, right out of college, early in their career — I’m not sure if he’d fare to walk on his own volition or chew his own food if those were my children,” Taylor added. “So he really got off easy having to pay $35-$45,000 in a severance to these young women. We do forget about them and the unfortunate thing is they have not been able to speak. There is some negotiation going on with the National Restaurant Association today, I understand, that may allow at least one of them to release a written statement but I think that’s important. If Herman Cain is man enough to go on air and trash these women, talking about their performance wasn’t ‘up to par’, then I think these women darn sure ought to have the right to go out and talk about their side of the story.”

Bashir had noted that the mainstream media was ignoring the female victims caught up in Cain’s imbroglio, calling it dangerous that the media narrative was forgetting the impact on the women involved. “They were victims of the most appalling sexist behavior,” Bashir observed.
