Gretchen Carlson: O’Reilly Settlement Revelations ‘Horrifying and Outrageous’
Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson said on CNN this morning that the new revelations of Fox News renewing Bill O’Reilly‘s contract a month after he reached a $32 million settlement are outrageous.
“I think it’s horrifying and outrageous,” she told Brian Stelter, “that any company after dismissing somebody for allegations such as that would not only re-sign a contract, but allow that person to come back on the air.”
Carlson, of course, filed a lawsuit last year against Roger Ailes alleging sexual harassment that set off the past year-plus discussion of corporate culture at Fox News.
Stelter asked her if Fox News has really “made changes” in that time period, given the O’Reilly report. Carlson said, “I think this is the corporate culture, Brian, that we were dealing with before July 6, 2016, in so many ways.”
She pointed to Harvey Weinstein as another example of a way harassment has gone on in corporate culture for so long.
