Hillary Refused to Support Obama’s Attack on Palin ‘Just for Being a Woman’
At the close of the 2008 Democratic primaries, as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton writes in her new book, she took a secret meeting with President Barack Obama where their differences were hashed out and a plan for rest of the general election set. According to NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell, Clinton declined to support Obama’s criticisms on former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, which she described as an attack on her “just for being a woman.”
In her book, Clinton describes her secret meeting with Obama. “We stared at each other like two teenagers on an awkward first date,” Clinton wrote. She wrote that they both had “long lists of grievances” to address.

“But when Sarah Palin was picked by John McCain, Clinton refused to back up a ‘dismissive statement’ from Obama’s campaign,” O’Donnell reported.
“I was not going to attack Palin just for being a woman appealing for support from other women,” Clinton wrote. “So I said no.”
