Fox’s Howard Kurtz Grills Katrina Pierson Over Trump’s Christine Ford Tweet: ‘I’m Not Going to Disagree With That’
One day after Judge Brett Kavanaugh‘s sexual assault accuser agreed to testify before the Senate, President Donald Trump‘s 2020 campaign senior adviser slammed Democrats for their handling of the allegations, and refused to criticize the President’s Friday tweet about it.
Katrina Pierson spoke Sunday to Fox News’ Howard Kurtz about Dr. Christine Blasey Ford‘s claims against the SCOTUS nominee, appearing to dismiss them and assert that they wouldn’t carry much weight.
“I think after a few days and more and more we find out that there is no evidence and there is no corroboration, what we know is that the Democrats didn’t deem these allegations to be credible because they had them two months ago,” Pierson said. “It’s truly unfortunate that this woman trusted the Democrats with clearly a tragedy in her life, and not only did they betray her confidence, but they thrust her tragedy into the public sphere.”
However, Pierson also argued Ford’s account should be considered.
“I will tell you as a woman, I believe her story should be heard,” Pierson said. “As a parent, I insist that her story be told. But it should be told to the Maryland Police Department.”
Pressed by Kurtz on whether the Judiciary Committee should hear it, Pierson said, “They can listen to it if they would like listen to it.”
But Kurtz, who was looking for a response on the president’s tweet last week that Ford would have told authorities had the alleged attack been “as bad as she says.”
To that, Pierson didn’t say much, but continually returned to what she felt was the need to push forward Kavanaugh’s confirmation. Kurtz pushed hard on it, eventually getting Pierson to say that she wouldn’t disagree with Trump’s premise.
“No I’m not going to disagree with that, simply because the Democrats themselves didn’t believe the allegations and now suddenly everyone else is supposed to,” she said.
“I believe if they continue to delay the vote on Judge Kavanaugh, they are sending a message to every husband and to every son in this country that an accusation from high school alone without corroboration or evidence is enough to destroy your character and your legacy,” she added.
