‘I Just Threw Up in My Mouth!’ MSNBC Segment Derails When Guest Says Matt Gaetz ‘Will Have To Pull Out’

A discussion about President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for attorney general went off the rails on Friday night by a guest who used an admittedly “bad choice of words.”

On Wednesday, Trump nominated former Rep. Matt Gaetz to be the nation’s top law enforcement official. Gaetz resigned from Congress the same day, just two days before the House was to vote on whether to release the findings of its investigation of alleged sexual relations with a minor, illicit drug use, obstruction of an investigation, and other accusations. Last year, the Department of Justice ended a probe into the lawmaker and declined to bring charges. With Gaetz’s resignation, the committee’s probe will also end, and the report is not slated to be publicly released.

On Friday’s 11th Hour on MSNBC, Stephanie Ruhle and her panel discussed Gaetz’s nomination, which faces an uphill confirmation battle in the Senate, which Republicans control by just three votes, pending a recount in a race in Pennsylvania.

“I think there’s the potential on the Matt Gaetz vote that you might see some weird things happen,” said former Rep. Max Rose. “But Matt Gaetz will never get to the point of a vote because what this is actually all about is the 2026 gubernatorial race in Florida. So you’re going to see Matt Gaetz. This was a win-win for him. He’s burning the boats behind him by resigning from Congress. He’ll never get a vote. They’ll have to discard this race, and he’s gonna spend the next two years running for governor saying that, ‘The deep state establishment prevented me from winning,’ and that’s the quintessential MAGA campaign for governor.”

“I do agree,” said Newsweek editor-at-large and MSNBC founder Tom Rogers. “He will probably have to pull out. Excuse me, that’s a bad choice of words.”

“Ohhh!” Ruhle exclaimed.

“He will have to pull out before there’s a hearing, I think,” Rogers reiterated. “This is really not gonna be something that goes over well.”

“I just threw up in my mouth! And we have to go to commercial,” Ruhle replied.
