Intel Chief Clapper: 2014 Was ‘Most Lethal Year for Global Terrorism’
Director of National Intelligence James Clapper testified to the Senate Armed Services Committee today, “When the final accounting is done, 2014 will have been the most lethal year for global terrorism in the 45 years such data has been compiled.”
And half of all these attacks, he said, happened just in Iraq, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Clapper also noted, “ISIL conducted more attacks than any other terrorist group in the first nine months of 2014.”
Plenty of media outlets noted this seems to be rather opposite to Secretary of State John Kerry‘s statement yesterday that “we are actually living in a period of less daily threat to Americans and to people in the world than normally.”
