Is Michael Bloomberg Interested in Buying CNN?
The rumors about CNN continue to buzz, with Rupert Murdoch apparently still pushing to acquire Time Warner, which would result in NewsCorp having to sell off Fox News’ cable rival. But who would buy it? Well, Neil Cavuto asked Michael Bloomberg, who’s got some spare change lying around, if he has any interest in buying CNN. And for the time being, he is not.
There have been plenty of rumors over who would buy CNN. CBS is interested, and so is Jon Stewart (sort of). But Bloomberg told Cavuto, “I can’t think of why we would be interested in buying CNN.”
Bloomberg praised the cable network, saying “A lot of people like CNN, a lot of people watch it, Ted Turner had a great concept when he started it.” But when pressed by Cavuto over his personal interest, Bloomberg said, “You never say never, but in this case I can probably say never.”
