Joe Scarborough Reveals ‘Truth’ About David Axelrod’s 2024 Doomcasting: He’s ‘Never Respected’ Biden

Joe Scarborough criticized the media’s hyperventilating over David Axelrod’s pessimism about President Joe Biden’s re-election chances.

There has been recurring media coverage on Axelrod for weeks — as the former Obama advisor reportedly drew Biden’s ire for suggesting the president cannot win re-election, and that he should consider stepping aside for another Democratic candidate. While Biden’s poll numbers leave much to be desired, Scarborough has been pushing a much more optimistic view that Biden’s critics constantly underestimate him.

As Morning Joe discussed Axelrod’s recent comments to New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, Mika Brzezinski cast doubt on the reliability of polls this far out from a presidential election. Scarborough went on to argue Axelrod’s comments aren’t newsworthy because, as the MSNBC host put it, he has always been a Biden skeptic.

David Axelrod is my friend, and Mika is friends with David Axelrod. I do feel, though, it would be really unfair to our viewers if we didn’t tell them the truth about David Axelrod’s relationship with Joe Biden. He’s never respected him. He’s always talked badly about him. He trashed him in 2020. He said he was too old. In 2019, said he wasn’t going to win in 2020. So again, that’s okay. That is certainly his business. I love Maureen as well. But to act as if David Axelrod criticizing Joe Biden on or off the record is breaking news is laughable. He has been doing it since Joe Biden was in the White House.

Claire McCaskill agreed that Axelrod’s comments were “probably not worthy” of the level of coverage it got, but she warned that Biden’s campaign needs to break through the skepticism for him and fight for every vote they can get.
