Joe Scarborough Taunts Trump Spox Vowing His Foes Will Be ‘Crushed’: ‘Fat, White, Pink Boy Trying to Talk Tough’
Joe Scarborough scoffed at Donald Trump’s communications team for threatening their political foes in defense of the former president’s dehumanizing rhetoric.
Morning Joe spoke on Tuesday about the Trump campaign having to answer for his alarming comments in his speech and on Truth Social over the weekend.
“We pledge to you that we will root out the Communists, Marxists, Fascists, and Radical Left Thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our Country, lie, steal, and cheat on Elections, and will do anything possible, whether legally or illegally, to destroy America, and the American Dream,” Trump wrote on Saturday.
The ex-president’s comments were condemned as critics argued that Trump referring to his left-wing political foes as “vermin” resembles how fascist dictators dehumanized the groups they persecuted. Campaign spokesman Steven Cheung defended Trump’s comments to the Washington Post, saying, “Those who try to make that ridiculous assertion are clearly snowflakes grasping for anything because they are suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome and their entire existence will be crushed when President Trump returns to the White House.”
Cheung told the Post later that he meant to say their “sad, miserable existence” instead of their “entire existence.” As Scarborough took on all of this, he called it “a distinction without a difference” before ripping into Cheung.
“How ridiculous that a guy comes out, fat, white, pink boy who is trying to talk tough for a fake populist who is going around spreading hatred and trying to overturn American democracy,” Scarborough said. “Where do you find people so vacant and so desperate and just lacking any center, any core, that they would talk about people’s entire existences being crushed?”
Willie Geist answered with a reminder that Adolf Hitler called Jews “vermin” too, and it is common practice for authoritarians to dehumanize their foes to falsely justify atrocities committed against them.
