John Dean: Multiple Trump Investigations ‘Far Broader Than Anything That Happened During Watergate’

John Dean, one of the key figures in the Watergate scandal, recently tweeted a comparison to the investigations into President Donald Trump that got a lot of attention.
Trump’s campaign. Trump’s transition. Trump’s inauguration. Trump’s presidency. Plus Trump & family. All are now under state and federal criminal and civil investigations. This is much more damning than Watergate, and it is just getting started.

Dean joined CNN’s John Berman last night after Michael Cohen‘s first big interview after his sentencing, and he started out by acknowledging the parallels between himself and the President’s former fixer.
Berman said that back then Nixon and people around him worked hard to discredit him, and certainly that applies to Cohen too.
"Michael Cohen has said he sees himself as a John Dean type of figure. You are the original John Dean type of figure… do you agree with the comparison?"@JohnBerman and @JohnWDean discuss any parallels b/t Trump's fmr attorney and the fmr Nixon counselhttps://t.co/BAPCn6q4FJ pic.twitter.com/pfuMZ7mqX6

As for the tweet, Dean just said this:
“The President’s campaign is under investigation. The President’s transition is under investigation. His inauguration is under investigation. His presidency is under investigation. He and his family are under investigation for their foundation and other activities. That’s far broader than anything that happened during Watergate, and those investigations are just starting.”
