WATCH: John Oliver Releases Children’s Book on Mike Pence’s Gay Bunny Marlon Bundo

John Oliver took aim at Mike Pence’s track record anti-gay rights rhetoric and legislation on Sunday night, trolling the vice president with a novel take on his upcoming children’s book.

After referring to Pence as an “ashen weasel” or the “opposite of whatever a silver fox is,” Oliver conceded that the VP’s pet rabbit is his one redeeming quality, in the same way that “George W. Bush is a perfectly fine painter, or how Bill Cosby raised American awareness of pudding, or how Roger Ailes is dead.”

Oliver then noted that the Veep family is releasing a children’s book on Monday about their rabbit Marlon Bundo, titled, Marlon Bundo’s Day in the Life of the Vice President.

In response, Oliver announced on Last Week Tonight that he was releasing his own children’s book, out Sunday night on PDF.

“It turns out in a complete coincidence, we also wrote a book about Mike Pence’s rabbit that is also being published. In fact, while his is out tomorrow, ours is being released right now,” Oliver said.

In Oliver’s version — the audio book of which features an impressive roster of voice overs, from Jim Parsons, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ellie Kemper, RuPaul, and John Lithgow — Pence’s rabbit is gay.

“Now, there are a few small differences between the two books,” Oliver said. “You’ll notice right away that our rabbit has a bow tie, so there’s that. Also, our story is about Marlon Bundo falling in love with another boy rabbit, because our Marlon Bundo is gay. Just like the real Marlon Bundo.”

The book is available on Amazon and Audible, as well as two websites Oliver made to consummate his trolling of Pence, BetterBundoBook.com and FocusOnTheFurmily.com. All proceeds go to the Trevor Project, an organization focused on LGBT crisis prevention and AIDS United.
