Jon Stewart Mocks ‘Beaten Down’ Elon Musk After 4 Months in Trump Admin: ‘He Has Broken This Poor Man’
The Daily Show host Jon Stewart expressed sympathy for billionaire Elon Musk on Monday after he exited his position in President Donald Trump’s administration looking “broken” and “beaten down.”
Comparing a photo of Musk jumping up and down at a Trump rally to a photo of him four months later looking tired and miserable with a black eye, Stewart reacted, “Honestly, I’m starting to feel bad for this guy. Look at him, he’s been there four months. Look at the poor bastard. It only took four months to go from this to this.”
“Look at this fucking guy! He went from tech titan given a mandate to move fast and crush the deep state to guy who had a bad night in a Nashville bar he can’t remember,” The Daily Show host mocked. “He looks beaten down. He’s got that look on his face that I imagine his employees normally have. Black eye, thousand yard stare, this dude has seen some shit. I’d like to know at least how that happened.”
Stewart proceeded to play a clip of Musk claiming that his black eye was the result of his child punching him in the face after he told him to.
“So you’re not gonna tell us what happened. Do you need a safe place to stay?” Stewart responded. “Look, I believe sometimes that will happen when you’re roughhousing with your kids, but I’m also sure that one sentence no parent has ever uttered to their child is, ‘Go ahead, punch me in the face.'”
The Daily Show host went on to play a clip of Musk’s final Trump administration interview with CBS News’ Sunday Morning, during which Musk was asked a series of uncomfortable questions, including about the impact of Trump’s policies on his personal and business life.
“Yeah, I mean, I think I want to stick to the subject of the day, which is like spaceships, as opposed to, you know, presidential policy,” replied a somber-looking Musk during the interview.
“Look what Trump has reduced this man to. He has broken this poor man,” concluded Stewart.
