Jon Stewart Once Called Megyn Kelly to Apologize for Being ‘Mean’

Jon Stewart has spent plenty of time mocking Fox News’ Megyn Kelly over the years, most famously over her assertion that Santa Claus “just is white.” But apparently, things are not so bad between the two hosts.

In a new interview with Reuters, Kelly revealed that Stewart doesn’t bother her “as much as he used to” after they hashed things out in a private, hour-long phone conversation.

Here’s what Kelly had to say about the situation:

“Stewart doesn’t bother me as much as he used to. He used to do these segments on me all the time, and then one day on the air I said he was mean and then he called me up, and we had an hour-long talk. He explained that he didn’t mean to be mean and that he does satire and that he claimed I was ‘one of the three journalists he respects.’

I said, ‘Well, it sounds like you’re looking for absolution, and I’m not giving it.’ We had a good laugh. He was very good-natured. But I understand what he does.”

Likewise, Stewart has not given up on mocking Kelly when he deems it appropriate. As recently as February, the Daily Show host blasted Kelly for not seeing the irony in her suggestion that Arizonans were “overreacting” in their belief that religion is under attack.
