Katie Pavlich and Dem Richard Fowler Battle Over ‘Divisive Rhetoric’ at MLK Event

Sean Hannity noted on Thursday night how a number of speakers at the big event commemorating the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington invoked Trayvon Martin in there remarks, with one speaker even linking the KKK to the Supreme Court overturning a provision of the Voting Rights Act. Hannity was shocked by the “insensitive and divisive rhetoric,” while Democratic strategist Richard Fowler clashed with Townhall editor Katie Pavlich over this kind of language and the supposed racial intent of voter ID.

Hannity pushed Fowler to defend the KKK-Supreme Court comparison, but when Fowler tried to explain exactly what about the Voting Rights Act ruling people found objectionable, Hannity interrupted, “Excuse me, we don’t need your interpretation!”

Fowler insisted the Supreme Court is “justifying voter suppression,” citing long waiting times for black people at the polls. Pavlich pushed back, and scolded Fowler’s “TV etiquette” when he tried to rebut her, declaring that “the only Republican on stage yesterday was Abraham Lincoln.”

They clashed over Tim Scott not being invited to speak and whether voter ID is strictly “racial.” Fowler argued they mandate certain types of ID, though Pavlich claimed the NAACP convention also requires photo ID. When Fowler tried to rebut Pavlich again, she said, “You need to learn how to be respectful and take your turn.” He shot back, “You won’t answer my question!” She responded, “You’re not the host of the show, sir!”
