Kellyanne Conway on CNN: ‘If the President Didn’t Tweet, What Would CNN Talk About?’

Kellyanne Conway‘s sit-down with CNN’s Dana Bash this morning got pretty contentious, and she took a few shots at the network in the process.

Bash brought up Trump’s tweets yesterday defending Michael Cohen and trashing a “drunk/drugged up loser who hates Michael.” It may have been a dig at Sam Nunberg, though Conway repeatedly said this morning she doesn’t know who the President was talking about.

In response to the “drunk/drugged up loser” comment, Conway immediately pivoted to praising Trump’s commitment to the opioids issue.

Bash asked why, then, Trump would attack someone “ad hominem” like that. “If the President’s going to tweet something like that, shouldn’t he own it and explain it?” Bash asked.

Conway said, “You can read the article and make your own––I’m sure CNN will talk about it for the next week. I’m sure there’ll be graphics and chyrons and everything else.”

She brought up North Korea and presidential nominees that haven’t gotten through yet, telling Bash, “I guess you don’t want to talk about it so I will.”

Bash defended her network and then Conway asked, “Dana, if the President didn’t tweet, what would CNN talk about?”

Bash said, “We would talk a lot more about the issues that he’s not diverting from.”

“You would not,” Conway said, “because when he doesn’t tweet, you don’t anyway.”

The interview ended with a back-and-forth following Bash’s questions about Conway’s husband tweeting things critical of the President. Conway also took some shots at CNN
