Laura Ingraham Confronts Trump Border Czar on Report He’s Clashing With DHS Boss: ‘Is That Report in Any Way Accurate?’
Fox News’ Laura Ingraham confronted Tom Homan, President Donald Trump’s border czar, about a report on “growing friction” with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on deportation tactics.
Homan joined Ingraham on The Ingraham Angle on Tuesday evening, and the host wrapped the interview up by mentioning Fox News’ own report on alleged friction between officials at DHS.
According to a Fox News report from Bill Melugin and Greg Whener, citing multiple officials familiar with the situation, there has been a “tense” and “combative” brawl behind the scenes about where ICE’s focus should be regarding deportations.
Ingraham read from the report:
On one side are Border Czar Tom Homan and ICE Director Todd Lyons, who have advocated focusing on criminal aliens and those with final deportation orders. On the other side are DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, senior adviser Corey Lewandowski and Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino, who have pushed for a broader and more aggressive approach, targeting anyone in the U.S. illegally to boost deportation numbers.
“Is that report in any way accurate, Tom?” Ingraham asked Homan.
Homan did not directly address any alleged “friction,” but said he and other officials are all being “aggressive” as he promised far more arrests.
He said:
Look, we are all being aggressive. I have said from day one we are going to concentrate on public safety threats and national security threats. If you are in the country illegally, you are not off the table. We will arrest you, too. The number speaks for themselves, Laura. Most secure border in the his industry of this nation. Over 23,000 missing kids have been found and saved. We have a record number of arrests and deportations. We are going to hit 600,000 real soon historic record and we will keep going. As we get more agents on you will see arrests increase twice, three times, you are going to see the numbers skyrocket.
