Lena Dunham Said ‘Penis’ on Today And The Entire Segment Unraveled

This morning, Lena Dunham appeared on Today to promote the upcoming final season of Girls. Maria Shriver opened the segment by saying that she’s seen three episodes of the season. Dunham then asked her, “you saw a penis, right?”

Shriver immediately became flustered, and said, “I’m not sure if you’re allowed to say that on television.”

The camera then panned to Matt Lauer, who laughed and just said, “What?”

The segment continued to unravel from there. Dunham apologized and Shriver noted that she “Wasn’t brought up speaking that way… That’s the difference between generations!”

The rest of the interview was just a lot of giggling and confusion. Dunham says, “I’m so thrilled by what just happened here,” and the segment ended before they got to anything else.
