‘Let’s Elect a Conservative!’ Jindal, Christie Throw Down Over How to Beat Hillary

christie jindalThe first big Republican fight of the night came midway through the undercard debate when Bobby Jindal called out Chris Christie in a fight about the best strategy to beat Hillary Clinton next year.

Jindal’s strategy in the debate has been to contrast his record with other Republicans in the field, while Christie has mentioned Clinton in practically every answer and not-so-subtly saying that the GOP shouldn’t be fighting amongst themselves when any one of them would be better than the Democratic nominee.

Jindal shot back and told Christie, “Sending any Republican is not good enough.” He said he doesn’t want another “big government Republican” in the White House and proceeded to call out Christie’s record as governor of New Jersey, including the state’s nine credit downgrades.

He concluded, “Let’s elect a conservative to the White House, not just any Republican.”

Christie shot back by saying, “The differences between me and Bobby Jindal, we could talk about those, and obviously Bobby wants to spend a lot of time tonight talking about that.”

He kept on his message about stopping another four years of a Democrat in the White House, but Jindal insisted that “records matter,” saying he “caved in to Obamacare.” He said since this is a debate, maybe the Republicans should debate about their respective visions for the future.
