Lou Dobbs Puckers Up to Trump: ‘There is Only One Person With Original Ideas…And That is the President’
Fox Business Network host Lou Dobbs took sucking up to Trump all the way to eleven Thursday night, telling his guest that Trump is the only person in Washington, DC “with original ideas,” and that Trump “is the only one getting anything done.”
On Thursday night’s edition of Lou Dobbs Tonight, Dobbs and longtime GOP strategist Ed Rollins groused about Congress’ handling of the ongoing government shutdown, and Dobbs flatly declared that “There is only one person with original ideas, there’s only one person who means to get things done, and that is the President of the United States.”
“I’m including the Republican Party as well as the Democratic Party,” Dobbs continued, and slammed now-Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) for “ignorantly is attacking the only person getting anything done in Washington DC.”
Dobbs didn’t elaborate on Trump’s “original ideas,” but perhaps he was talking about Trump’s praise for the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, which certainly had originality going for it. Donald Trump “would have been a good general” is another stellar example of Trump’s originality. So was Trump’s appearance at a White House briefing that wasn’t actually a briefing at all.
Or perhaps Dobbs was referring to Trump’s “The Wall is Coming” meme, which promotes Trump’s border wall by referencing a show whose cliffhanger is literally the massive failure of a wall. That sure is original.
But perhaps Dobbs deserves the originality prize for claiming that Trump is “the only person getting anything done in Washington DC,” since Trump has shut down the government — he even bragged about it — in order to secure funding for the wall that he promised Mexico would pay for.
In fairness to Dobbs, though, he never said they were good ideas.
