Lou Dobbs: Why Is ‘Lame Duck Speaker’ Paul Ryan Sticking Around?
Fox Business host Lou Dobbs, who declared last year Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) should “vacate the Speaker’s office,” is finally getting his wish.
Dobbs was clearly enthused by today’s news, getting in a few more jabs at the outgoing Speaker.
“He doesn’t like being Speaker, he doesn’t like being a congressman anymore,” Dobbs said, dripping with suspicion. “And again, his personal life is his priority, and so we can just dismiss any political ambition that might be lurking in his mind. It’s all about family.”
Ed Rollins said Tyrn clearly still has eyes on political office in the near future, making a point of bringing up how much campaign cash Ryan has.
Dobbs brought up the “middle-class appeal” of the Democrat running for Ryan’s seat before saying this:
“Why would he not resign the speakership? He’s a lame duck speaker, he’s a lame duck congressman now. What use is he as speaker and what is he––what is he thinking in terms of the good of the party, assuming that it remotely does occur to him? He is jeopardizing a seat. He is also jeopardizing the entire slate of the House of Representatives as a lame duck speaker? Why not move on?”
