Mark Halperin Draws Laughs for Predicting John Kerry Will Run if Hillary Clinton Doesn’t

It’s still only December of 2013, but political speculation about the 2016 presidential race has been chugging along for months, with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton considered a lock to run for, and probably win, the Democratic nomination. On Monday’s Andrea Mitchell Reports, MSNBC contributor and Time Magazine scribe Mark Halperin made one of the safest predictions ever when he told host Andrea Mitchell that “If Hillary Clinton doesn’t run for president, I bet you John Kerry does.”

The prediction drew laughs from his fellow panelists, and from Mitchell, who quipped “You’re doubling down, as it were,” a reference to Halperin’s recent book.

The bet is Slomin Shield-safe because it is generally believed that there is not a snowball heat-resistant enough, nor horses wild enough, nor sufficient flight-enabled butt-monkeys, to keep Hillary Clinton out of the 2016 race.

Here’s the clip, from MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports:
