Mazel Tov! Rachel Maddow Broadcasts Touching Live Wedding Of Prop 8 Plaintiffs Live

Paul Katami and Jeff Zarillo were one of the two couples who were plaintiffs in the Proposition 8 case that was struck down at the Supreme Court this week. Initially it was expected that gay couples would need to wait a while, but thanks to the efforts of Attorney General Kamala Harris, as of today gay and lesbian couples can get legally married in California. Harris conducted the marriage ceremony for the first couple in the Prop 8 case, and tonight, Rachel Maddow aired Katami and Zarillo’s wedding for her viewers to join in the happy occasion.

Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa officiated the ceremony, and remarked at one point, “I don’t you about you, but I’ve got goosebumps.”

After the two partners kissed and embraced, Maddow exclaimed, “Mazel tov!”
