Megyn Kelly to Joni Ernst: Were You ‘Feigning’ Outrage over Harkin Comment?

Republican Senate candidate Joni Ernst joined Megyn Kelly tonight to react to Senator Tom Harkin apologizing to her for a comment about her looks. Harkin mentioned, in passing, that Ernst could look like Taylor Swift and it wouldn’t matter if her record is horrible, and Ernst expressed outrage on Fox News this morning about that comment.

Harkin walked that comment back (though didn’t outright apologize), and Ernst reacted by telling Kelly it’s “as good as an apology as we will get.” She said, “Just like Taylor Swift, we’re gonna shake this off.”

Kelly then brought up the accusation that she wasn’t really offended and was “feigning her outrage.” She didn’t cite anyone in particular, but earlier today Fox News’ Andrea Tantaros said on the air that Ernst was “feigning a little bit of outrage” and the way she responded “sounds like a very liberal woman’s response.”

Ernst insisted she was offended and said she is nice, like Harkin said, but also tough.
