Mika Brzezinski Calls Out Republicans: After Bomb Scare, It’s No Longer OK To Defend Trump

Mika Brzezinski has a message for Republicans in office: It is no longer okay for you defend President Donald Trump.

Morning Joe opened today’s show in a much more serious tone than normal, which is understandable given yesterday’s spate of explosive devices sent to Democratic former officials and CNN.

President Trump twice condemned the failed attack in prepared remarks but drew criticism from the Morning Joe panel for not canceling the political rally he attended last night in Wisconsin.

Brzezinski made clear that she did not hold Trump specifically responsible for the attacks, but indirectly painted him with a guilty brush, saying that it was a “reflection of his rhetoric.” She then addressed to Republican officials who have been remarkably quiet on Trump’s non-traditional bellicosity.

“And note to Republicans, this is something you can’t let go by anymore. You can’t. Our country is at risk. We have been attacked. It’s no longer okay to say I don’t like his tweets but — it’s no longer to say I don’t like his bullying, but — it’s no longer okay to say I don’t really support that, but. It’s no longer okay to say nothing, It’s no questions, to not speak out when it is very we have dangerous rhetoric resonating from the White House every day.”

She ended this segment by literally begging Republicans to” step up, do the right thing. Do not turn away and turn your back to it. Please, don’t. Please don’t.”
