MSNBC Host Admits to Quoting Fake Trump Post Asking Kamala Harris to ‘Caddie’ Golf Game With Biden

MSNBC’s Katty Kay apologized for claiming that former President Donald Trump made a post asking Vice President Kamala Harris to be his “caddie” at a golf game with President Joe Biden.

During a Thursday segment on Morning Joe, Kay and host Joe Scarborough discussed recent controversial remarks made by the former president. Kay reported that Trump took to Truth Social and wrote that the vice president should be a golf caddie “in a kind of clear dog whistle.”

“Yeah or writing on Truth Social that Kamala Harris, in a kind of clear dog whistle, should come and caddie for him, you know, in a golf tournament against Joe Biden,” Kay told Scarborough. “So this is the Donald Trump that his campaign does not want, particularly out there in public. It is not the Donald Trump who showed up to that debate that was the more disciplined Donald Trump. But as we have always said, that doesn’t last very long with the former president.”

However, the Truth Social post that Kay cited was based on a fake screenshot that the former president did not in fact send out to his supporters. Later on in the show, Kay corrected her reporting while interviewing Democratic National Committee chairman Jaime Harrison.

Kay asked Harrison about controversial remarks that Trump has made at recent campaign rallies before pausing to tell viewers that her earlier report was incorrect.

“So when you hear, Donald Trump in Florida last night. And the kinds of things that he was saying at that event, and I erroneously quoted a Truth Social post about Kamala Harris, which is a fake, and that is my mistake,” she noted.
