MSNBC Tweets About ‘Right Wing’ ‘Hating’ Bi-Racial Couple; Deletes and Apologizes
On Wednesday evening, MSNBC’s official Twitter account sent out a message about a Cheerios ad featuring a bi-racial couple, adding their own editorialization that “the rightwing will hate it.” After outcry about a cable news network posting such a message, MSNBC apologized and deleted the tweet.
“Maybe the rightwing will hate it, but everyone else will go awww: the adorable new #Cheerios ad w/ biracial family,” the tweet read, with a link to a story on the commercial.
Several hours later, the network rethought the message, tweeting out an apology:
Earlier, this account tweeted an offensive line about the new Cheerios ad. We deeply regret it. It does not reflect the position of msnbc.

When that wasn’t enough, they finally deleted the tweet:
We are deleting the earlier offensive tweet. It does not reflect msnbc's position and we apologize.
