MSNBC’s Kornacki: Bridgegate Report ‘Reads Like Christie’s Defense’

MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki, the network’s “resident expert” on all things New Jersey politics, told Andrea Mitchell Thursday morning the report released by a Chris Christie-appointed investigator about the Bridgegate scandal read like the New Jersey governor’s administration “mounting their defense.”

“This is [Christie’s] lawyer,” Kornacki said. “What this really reads like is Christie’s defense. They’re mounting their defense here. They’re marshaling all the evidence they can, all the documents they can, all the interviews they could get. They couldn’t get everybody in this. They couldn’t get the most crucial players.”

“The thing to keep in mind is this is not the definitive report,” Kornacki continued. “The U.S. attorney is looking into this.”

“It is a preemptive shot, paid for by the taxpayers, but coming from the Chris Christie point of view,” Mitchell said.
