Nicolle Wallace: Sekulow Was Either ‘Uninformed or Intentionally Misleading’ on Don Jr. Statement

Statements from Jay Sekulow, a member of President Trump‘s legal team, are coming under renewed scrutiny after news broke last night of President Trump‘s involvement in his son’s initial statement on his meeting with the Russian lawyer.

Sekulow appeared on TV several times and denied the President was involved in the statement, but last night the Washington Post reported that Trump “personally dictated” that initial Donald Trump Jr. statement.

And during today’s press briefing, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, “The president weighed in as any father would, based on the limited information that he had.” She added that Trump did not “dictate it,” but he “offered suggestions like any father would do.”

So on MSNBC this afternoon, Nicolle Wallace recalled what Sekulow had said weeks ago:

“The President’s personal attorneys called this ‘fake news, incorrect, and misinformed,’ but Sarah Huckabee Sanders did not knock down this story from the podium today… As we saw, Jay Sekulow obviously was not telling the truth. Either he was uninformed or intentionally misleading.”

Former U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade said every time more news like this happens, “it creates additional people for Mueller and his team to interview.”
