O’Reilly: Carson’s Muslim Comments ‘Another Phony, Manufactured Controversy’
Bill O’Reilly said on Fox & Friends Tuesday morning that the uproar over Ben Carson‘s refusal to vote for a Muslim president was “another phony manufactured controversy” to “divert attention away from [the fact] that the country is going to hell.”
“My take is this; if Dr. Carson doesn’t want to vote for a president if the guy is a Muslim or the girl is Muslim, that’s his opinion,” O’Reilly said. “Under the Constitution, any religion can become president.”
“But he believes, I think, that it doesn’t line up,” O’Reilly said. “We’re a country founded on Judeo-Christian philosophy, that’s a fact… but the whole philosophy of Islam doesn’t stack up against Judeo-Christian. It’s different philosophies.”
“So if you’re going to say ‘Look, I want to adhere to the Judeo-Christian path, than I wouldn’t vote for a Muslim’ …that’s not bigotry. That’s based on your strict understanding of the country.”
