O’Reilly on George Will Leaving the GOP: Does Anyone Care?
Bill O’Reilly tonight took on the announcement by Fox contributor George Will
In the lead-in to the show and in multiple segment teases tonight, O’Reilly kept teasing the segment on Will by saying, “Does anyone care?”
And when Brit Hume came on for the segment in question, O’Reilly asked him, “Do you think that matters one iota?”
Hume said no, and added that Will would have preferred it not be this big a deal. O’Reilly said he shouldn’t have been surprised since “any liberal paper would use any Republican defection as a page one.”
He brought up the idea that Trump won because of a backlash against elites like Will. Hume defended his colleague by saying people tend to view writers like Will as elitists because “George is a pretty cerebral guy and he’s there with his spectacles and he writes and speaks eloquently and in complete sentences and paragraphs.”
Now, O’Reilly was pretty fair to Will in this segment, which is only a relevant factor because, well, they had a pretty fierce fight months ago.
