Raymond Arroyo Calls Kamala Harris ‘The Gwen Berry of Politics’: She’s ‘Divisive’ and ‘Throwing Hammers’
On Friday, Axios reported that if President Joe Biden declines to run for reelection in 2024, there is doubt among some Democratic Party insiders that Vice President Kamala Harris would be able to attract the coalition of voters that sent him to the White House.
Fox contributor Raymond Arroyo responded to the report by comparing Harris to Gwen Berry, the hammer-thrower who turned away from the American flag as the national anthem played at an Olympics qualifier.
“Look, at this point the only thing Kamala Harris is running for is her life,” said Arroyo. He cited a way-too-early poll showing that Donald Trump leads Harris 49% to 45%, and noted when she dropped out of the 2020 Democratic primary, Harris was polling in single digits and “she was getting less support” among Black voters than Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.
Arroyo said said it’s difficult to imagine Biden running in 2024, when he would turn 81 a few weeks after the election.
“If you suffered–I mean listened to the speeches I listened to today from Joe Biden,” said Arroyo, “I can’t imagine this at 81. He’s having trouble just putting basic syntax and stories together. But Kamala Harris has become the Gwen Berry of politics. She’s divisive. She’s throwing hammers–”
“She hates the flag,” interrupted Watters.
“Right,” he replied. “So she’s throwing hammers and divisive, but there’s very little to show for it. And her portfolio – solving immigration, being the leader on the Voting Rights Act – none of this has panned out, Jesse. There’s no progress. That’s why they’re worried.”
“I just don’t know how you get Biden out there again in 2024,” Arroyo said.
