Rep. Mike Pence On Israel Security Crisis: ‘Mr. President, Whose Side Are You On?’
The Obama administration’s decision to abstain from taking a side in the case of the Israeli flotilla incident until all the facts are sorted through has gotten them into almost as much heat as if they had taken a side, and today, Republican Rep. Mike Pence pressured the President once again to take a side, asserting that “the American people are on the side of Israel” and asking the President, “Whose side are you on?”
Pence, a strong supporter of Israel, argued that “the history is clear in that region,” noting that Israel is defending itself from Hamas, and that 10,000 tons of food and medical supplies are recording to enter Gaza on a weekly basis. Then he challenged President Obama to take a position:
“Remarkably, yesterday the president said it was time for Israel to sharply limit its effective blockade in Gaza saying ‘the situation in Gaza is unsustainable.’ The truth, Mr. President, your policy in Israel is unsustainable. The American people are on the side of Israel and Israel’s right to defend herself. Mr. President, whose side are you on?”
