Rep. Peter King: I Respected James Comey, But He’s Become a ‘Partisan Hack’
Rep. Peter King (R-NY) told Fox News this morning that he once respected former FBI Director James Comey, but now believes he’s becoming a “partisan hack.”
King, who was brought on to discuss Comey’s responses to the House Judiciary and Oversight committees on Friday, began by questioning why Comey couldn’t answer certain questions in his testimonies.
“It’s hard to believe that Jim Comey would have forgotten all those different details,” he said. “On the intelligence committee Jim Comey testified before us any number of times. I never recall him not being able to answer a question. He has almost a photographic memory.”
“I don’t want to be judging his motives but I’m very skeptical of that,” King added.
The Republican lawmaker continued by slamming Comey’s recent actions and disputes with the president, despite once being “one of those people” who respected him:
“I had a regard for Jim Comey but I tell you what he has done over the last year the way he become really almost a partisan hack for the Democrats is really unbecoming of a former FBI director, and I don’t blame the president for being outraged by all this… This was a baseless investigation to begin with and now for him to keep talking about indictments or possible co-conspiracy all this stuff to me he is losing whatever credibility he had and I can say a lot of what he is saying publicly is different what he told us privately.”
“Again, he is losing whatever credibility he had,” he concluded.
