Scott Pelley Gets Emotional Following Segment On A Father’s Xmas Return From Iraq
Every holiday season, many news outlets put together inspirational and heartwarming stories to fit the season. They’re always a joy to watch and, as we watch so many here at Mediaite, it’s hard not to start picking favorites. Last year, the best may have been a delightful tale from The New York Times and it looks like we may have an early favorite for 2011. CBS wrapped up the evening news tonight by recounting the tale of a little girl from North Carolina who asked Santa to bring her father, a contractor in Iraq, home for the holidays.
I don’t want to ruin what happens but be warned; there’s a good chance you’ll end up like Pelley who had to end tonight’s broadcast reminding viewers that “anchors aren’t supposed to cry.”
