Stephanopoulos Confronts Trump on Muslim Database and Surveilling Mosques

 

stephanopoulosOn ABC’s This Week today, George Stephanopoulos confronted Donald Trump today on whether he really supports a Muslim database and surveillance of American mosques.

Stephanopoulos asked, “Are you unequivocally now ruling out a database on all Muslims?”

Trump answered, “No, not at all.”

He did go on to say that he wants a database for Syrian refugees, and Stephanopoulos didn’t follow up to clarify on the question of all Muslims.

After Trump also he would bring back waterboarding, Stephanopoulos pressed him on specifics for how he would decide which mosques to close. “You’ve said your top priority would be to preserve and protect our religious beliefs,” he said. “Is that only for Christians?”

Trump said he wouldn’t close any mosques, just surveil them.

Stephanopoulos finally brought up Trump’s claim yesterday that after the 9/11 attacks, there were “thousands” cheering in New Jersey.
