Stewart Blasts ‘Bullsh*t’ SCOTUS Ruling: If Money Doesn’t Corrupt, What the Hell Does?!
Jon Stewart blasted the Supreme Court’s campaign finance ruling this week, mock-celebrating, “We’re rid of the corrosive influence of not enough money in politics!” Stewart couldn’t believe the high court ruled people can donate to as many candidates as possible, meaning “the last great hope of preserving our democracy… is carpal tunnel syndrome.”
Stewart pointed to Republicans appealing directly to superdonor Sheldon Adelson last weekend as evidence of financial corruption in American politics and wondered “in who’s delusional mind” is this okay.
He cried “bullshit” and called out the Supreme Court for finding cameras in the court corrupting, because somehow “the one thing so corrosive to the process that it can never be allowed to exert its influence on our sacred democratic institutions is transparency.” In the second segment, Aasif Mandvi explained that the ruling makes perfect sense because as we all know, this country was established by the Funding Fathers.
