Tapper Presses Priebus on ‘Cauldron of Potential Conflicts’ with Trump Businesses
CNN’s Jake Tapper spoke with incoming White House chief of staff Reince Priebus this morning about conflict-of-interest issues surrounding Donald Trump and his businesses.
He pointed to how when the President-elect met with the prime minister of Japan, Ivanka Trump (who’ll be helping run her father’s businesses while he’s president) was in the room. In addition, Trump personally met last week with three Indian business partners. He asked Priebus if the Trump team isn’t concerned about the “huge cauldron of potential conflicts.”
Priebus insisted that they will follow the laws as required and there will be no “undue influence over any decision-making.”
Tapper even asked about concerns over potential pay-for-play, considering what the Republicans were saying about that where Hillary Clinton was concerned.
