‘That’s a Cheap Shot’: Things Got a Bit Tense Today Between The Five’s Greg Gutfeld and Eric Bolling

Tensions were high this afternoon in The Five Land.

During a group discussion on Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman‘s impassioned post-game rant (Yes, really, a day and a half later), Greg Gutfeld took a swipe at co-host Eric Bolling‘s ego, leading to some glares and a terse exchange.

That little moment came shortly after Gutfeld maintained that he found Sherman’s rant a bit too boastful, and said he believes people should strive for humility.

“Look, free speech,” Bolling said in response. Gutfeld jumped to point out that this isn’t a question of censorship.

“But you’re saying he has to be humble,” Bolling explained.

“What’s wrong with being humble?” Gutfeld asked. And then came the barb: “I know you don’t understand it.”

“That’s funny,” Bolling sarcastically remarked, snapping back as Gutfeld continued to chuckle: “That’s actually a cheap shot and I don’t appreciate it. But go ahead. We’ll move on.”

The exchange ended with Gutfeld reiterating that criticizing Sherman’s rant has nothing to do with free speech. “It’s a pretty simple distinction,” he suggested to his colleague.

And with that, perhaps we see that Samantha Bee‘s hilarious tribute to The Five wasn’t all that disconnected from reality: Could it be that there’s a rivalry a-brewin’ betwixt Gutfeld and Bolling?
