The Five Panel Piles on ‘Moron’ Jason Bateman Over Dig at Trump Supporters

The Five appeared ready for a fight Monday evening as they targeted actor Jason Bateman over comments he made about supporters of President Donald Trump several weeks ago.

It all went down as the panelists discussed remarks by the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning Ozark star, most notably that supporters of the president are “insulated from the facts and common sense.”

Bateman made the comments on The Best People With Nicolle Wallace in an episode that dropped on June 5.

“I really am fascinated,” he added. “I can’t stop watching and marry that to the fact that there are 80 some million people that would vote again for him tomorrow.”

When asked for his opinion of the comments by panelist Harold Ford Jr., Gutfeld! host Greg Gutfeld said Bateman should really be talking to his sister, Justine Bateman, who came out in support of Trump in November after his election win over former Vice President Kamala Harris.

“He should be talking about his sister, Justine Bateman, who has emerged as the clear-eyed, clear-thinking sibling in this family, a defender of common sense and understands the Trump voter,” Gutfeld said. “She understands there are other people out there.”

The discussion then turned over to former MTV VJ and Fox News commentator Kennedy, who addressed Bateman directly: “Jason, Jason, you’re an actor, OK? Thank you so much, dear. Now go ahead and shut your pretty mouth until someone writes some words and then you can open your mouth and say someone else’s words. Until then, shhh.”

Later, former White House press secretary Dana Perino joined in, taking issue with Bateman’s use of the word “insulated” to describe Trump supporters.

“Who was the most insulated last year?” she asked. “It was Joe Biden. So they don’t know why 80 million people would have voted against him? You’re the insulated one.

“Moron,” Gutfeld said as Perino echoed: “Yeah, moron.”

Read the exchange here:

HAROLD FORD JR.: Mr. Gutfeld, you’ve been away for a week. I think you want to say something here.

GREG GUTFELD: Well, Jason shouldn’t be talking about us, he should be talking about his sister, Justine Bateman, who has emerged as the clear-eyed, clear-thinking sibling in this family, a defender of common sense and understands the Trump voter. She understands there are other people out there. He doesn’t have to watch Fox, we don’t need him. We do well without him. Talk to your damn sister. She could straighten you out in 90 minutes. My guess is that when he sees his sister on X, he thinks, ‘Oh, she’s operating in a bubble, she doesn’t know what’s going on. No, she actually lived in the bubble you’re living in and she broke out of it.

FORD: Kennedy, counter-point or support that point?

KENNEDY: Umm… Greg, how dare you. No, I just want to say, Jason, Jason, you’re an actor, OK? Thank you so much, dear. Now go ahead and shut your pretty mouth until someone writes some words and then you can open your mouth and say someone else’s words. Until then, shhh.

FORD: Paul, as an encore to that, what’s your message to Mr. Bateman?

PAUL MAURO: OK, Hollywood, we don’t care, we don’t care what you think, all right? Perform, entertain us. That’s it. Juggle, tell a joke, do a back flip, do some damn thing, but we don’t care about your political opinions and the idea that an actor, a guy who won the genetic lottery because he’s good looking and then memorizes his lines or reads off a teleprompter and then goes and pretends to be someone else. I mean, that’s his job. only an idiot would read off a teleprompter.

DANA PERINO: I read off a teleprompter as myself

MAURO: We don’t care. Move on and that’s it.

PERINO: He uses the word insulated? Who was the most insulated last year? It was Joe Biden. So they don’t know why 80 million people would have voted against him? You’re the insulated one.

GUTFELD: Moron.

PERINO. Yeah, moron.

FORD: Look, I think everybody’s entitled to their opinion…

GUTFELD: I don’t. I’m against that, Harold.

FORD: And I think they can share it, but you also have to be willing to take it back. To your point, I think there are a lot of families who are having these conversations and it’s obvious this conversation is happening within the Bateman family.

PERINO: I watched the entire four seasons of Ozarks and I still don’t understand money laundering, so try again

MAURO: Give it five years AI is gonna do all of this and we’ll never have to deal with this again

FORD: That guy’s a good actor though, Jason Bateman.
