The View Segment Helps Find Missing Girl In NYC

I’ve been watching The View for many years (since the Meredith Vieira/Lisa Ling/gauzy opening credits sequence days!), but I feel like today my obsession with the show has been validated, since a segment from last week basically saved someone’s life.

The segment was the brainchild of Whoopi Goldberg, who felt that media attention was lacking for African American children who are missing. Last week the show had Bronx resident Janell Dash, whose daughter Michelle had been missing for five and a half months, on to tell her story. Fifteen minutes after the segment aired, an anonymous tip was given to the Black And Missing Foundation with Michelle’s exact location, and she was found that day. Um, The View is magic!

It’s a feel-good story if there ever was one, and the hosts were visibly moved by the pictures of Michelle’s reunion with her family, and an emotional letter she wrote to thank them. You can see a clip with reunion pictures and the contents of Michelle’s letter below, via ABC.
