The View Tackles Sarah Sanders Being Booted from Restaurant: ‘Not the America I Want to Live In’
The hosts of The View mostly came to Sarah Huckabee Sanders‘ defense over her being asked to leave a restaurant this weekend over her working for President Trump.
“Last night I was told by the owner of Red Hen in Lexington, VA to leave because I work for @POTUS and I politely left,” the White House press secretary tweeted on Saturday. “Her actions say far more about her than about me. I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so.”
Sunny Hostin argued that Huckabee Sanders was not discriminated against and said there’s legitimate reason for people to be outraged at a public servant who is not only the face of the administration in press briefings, but she has lied multiple times.
But even Joy Behar didn’t agree with the restaurant’s decision. She brought up how she’s been publicly harassed and said, “Save your rage for the voting booth.”
Meghan McCain agreed and noted that other restaurants could easily decide they don’t want to serve liberals. She said that’s “not the America I want to live in.”
Behar added that Huckabee Sanders and DHS Sec. Kirstjen Nielsen (who was heckled while having dinner at a Mexican restaurant) are “shameless,” “so what’s the point of trying to shame them?”
The segment ended with Hostin arguing that ideology is not a protected class. Sara Haines said it may be legal, but it’s not civil. Hostin responded, “This administration is the height of not being civil.”
