Trump Ally Greg Gutfeld Appears on Jimmy Fallon After President Says Fallon ‘Next’ on Chopping Block
Fox News host Greg Gutfeld appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show on Thursday after President Donald Trump repeatedly attacked Fallon and said he would be “next” on the late-night chopping block.
After Fallon introduced Gutfeld to his show on Thursday evening, the Gutfeld! host wrapped his arms around Fallon, who then lifted up his guest in a loving embrace.
“That brought back memories,” said Gutfeld – a favorite of Trump’s who interviewed the president on his show last September.
“We’ve met before,” replied Fallon.
Gutfeld then recalled the time he wrestled with Fallon in an illegal speakeasy while both of them were drunk:
I walk in and I’m looking around and I’m like what the hell have I got into. And then I see you, you look at me and you have your eyes just kind of explode, and you run towards me and you tackle me like you’re a giant Golden Retriever. You’re like on top of me and so we’re wrestling. We’re wrestling, and then you change and you start wrestling my buddy Andy and you’re wrestling him, and you guys get on the ground. You guys are now on the ground wrestling, so I pull out a cigarette, I light a cigarette and I’m smoking it, and you stop and you come over to me and you grab it and you crinkle it and you go, “These things will kill you,” and you threw it.
Gutfeld’s appearance on The Tonight Show came just days after Trump attacked Fallon on Truth Social, claiming he had “no talent” and that he would be “next” on the chopping block after CBS abruptly canceled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
“Fallon has no talent. Kimmel has no talent. They’re next. They’re gonna be going,” wrote Trump. “I hear they’re gonna be going. I don’t know, but I would imagine because they’d get– you know, Colbert has better ratings than Kimmel or Fallon.”
In another post last month, Trump wrote, “The word is, and it’s a strong word at that, Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes and, shortly thereafter, Fallon will be gone. These are people with absolutely NO TALENT, who were paid Millions of Dollars for, in all cases, destroying what used to be GREAT Television. It’s really good to see them go, and I hope I played a major part in it!”
Gutfeld, meanwhile, spent the past week praising Fallon as a “great genuine guy” and thanking the late-night host for inviting him on the show.
In 2020, Trump congratulated Gutfeld for beating Fallon in the ratings, writing, “Wow! Congratulations to Greg Gutfeld, a one time Trump Hater who has come all the way home. His Ratings easily beat no talent Stephen Colbert, nice guy Jimmy Fallon, and wacko ‘last placer’ Jimmy Kimmel.”
“Thanks Prez!” replied Gutfeld.
