Trump Doubles Down on ‘Speak English’: ‘Like It or Not, That’s How We Assimilate’

Donald Trump today doubled down on his statement yesterday that Jeb Bush should be speaking English while in the United States. Bush responded this morning by just laughing at it, but Trump made it clear today he’s dead serious.

During his presser today, Trump said “while we’re in this nation, we should be speaking English, and that’s how assimilation works… Whether people like it or not, that’s how we assimilate.”

He said speaking English is a key to success in America and so it’s “more appropriate.”
