President Trump did not attend the White House Correspondents Dinner yesterday, but he tweeted about it while watching Fox & Friends this morning.
The President first sent a message to the people who came to see him speak in Michigan last night:
Great evening last night in Washington, Michigan. The enthusiasm, knowledge and love in that room was unreal. To the many thousands of people who couldn’t get in, I cherish you….and will be back!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 29, 2018
As for the dinner, Trump echoed the sentiments of what the Fox & Friends Weekend hosts were saying:
While Washington, Michigan, was a big success, Washington, D.C., just didn’t work. Everyone is talking about the fact that the White House Correspondents Dinner was a very big, boring bust…the so-called comedian really “bombed.” @greggutfeld should host next year! @PeteHegseth

And yes, on Fox News earlier (video above), Pete Hegseth agreed with Ari Fleischer that White House staff “should stop attending this dinner.” He said “Trump should never go,” but added this caveat: “Unless Greg Gutfeld is the host.”
And it seems like the President agrees.
